Zino is well known for its fantastic and luxurious mild-bodied cigars, and while the Platinum Z-Class is still two of those things, it is a departure from the mild realm into the heavier medium-to-full-bodied range. Created after the wild success of the Platinum Crown and Scepter series, Z-Class was created to embody ambition and opulence. A new blend of a perfectly aged Dominican wrapper, a Peruvian binder, and Nicaraguan and Honduran filler tobacco give this stick a wonderful body and a very complex flavor. (Shop all Zino cigars) A classy black and silver band set off against the creamy Dominican wrapper is a precursor to the luxurious smoke which awaited us. The lack of any pre-light aroma made us believe we were about to embark on a normal, mild Zino Experience, but we were pleasantly deceived. A small burst of pepper entered our mouth on the first puff and was followed by a honey-like sweetness and espresso undertones. While Zino themselves list this as medium-to-full-bodied, we found it closer to the medium side of that scale. Zino Platinum Z-Class is a great cigar for regular Zino Smokers to up their flavor profile a bit. It is also a wonderful cigar for those that dismiss Zino as a mild cigar. Wonderful sweetness and body are combined with a slight spiciness and bitter coffee. Z-Class was the perfect mid afternoon cigar. For the milder side of Zino Platinum series cigars, the Scepter is a fantastic smoke.
