Tatuaje Havana VI

Pete Johnson and Jose "Pepin" Garcia have combined in the past to make one of the most renowned cigars on the market, Tatuaje. Numerous different blends and stylings have left the My Father cigar factory in Nicaragua under the Tatuaje name, each a perfectly blended and constructed masterpiece, and Havana VI is no different. Utilizing Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos as well as an amazing Nicaraguan Corojo 99 wrapper, this is the type of cigar people rave about when they go on at length about smoking a puro. While some may say Tatuaje Havana VI is medium-to-full body, we found this much closer to the medium range. While lighter than most Garcia blended cigars, fear not. The characteristic spice and flavor profile fans of his cigars have come to know and love is present from foot to nub. (See all Tatuaje cigars) A simple red band embellished with white fleur-de-lis designs and the Tatuaje name greats the smoker, but that is no accounting for the complexity of flavors that are hidden beneath the wrapper. From first light, the signature Pepin spice will hit you, but not run you over. With each and every puff, Havana VI mellows out and more earthy and woodsy flavors dance on the palate. The spice is there but it seems to almost be an extremely pleasant after thought. The draw is extremely smooth, almost to the point where you don't even have to inhale to let the voluminous smoke enter your mouth. Long white ash formed before we had to tip it off. Tatuaje Havana VI is another fine example of what happens when two innovators in the cigar world get together. Johnson and Garcia have another winner on their hands. The very subtle spice and earthiness to this cigar make it a perfect pairing for smoky scotch or bourbon, or a refreshing IPA.
