Ramon Bueso Genesis The Project is a succulent medium-full boutique handmade by a legend in the cigar biz. After spending decades immersed in tobacco and playing an integral part in the crafting of so many of your favorite smokes, it would be unfair to suggest that Señor Bueso didn't consider any of them worthy enough to carry his name. Indeed, all of them are wonderful and of the highest quality, but now that the opportunity has come to have his moniker on the frontmark, Ramon has gone all out. First blending four varieties of the choicest aged Nicaraguan and Honduran longleaf, he compliments this concoction with a hearty binder from the Jamastran Valley and finishes with a near-black Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro. From the moment one of these vitolas is plucked from the dark recesses of a humidor out into the light, the care and attention given to every aspect of a Ramon Bueso Genesis The Project is evident. The cigar is not overly heavy for its size and its triple-fermented wrapper shines with oils along every inch of the barrel. Despite a decidedly funky aroma, the flavors during a cold draw are of wood and sweet spice. It takes but a few long moments before the cigar springs to life after lighting, with silky clouds of smoke initially displaying earth, nuts, and dark chocolate. The midway point adds some leather and a touch of cinnamon, while the final third, in a masterful turn, becomes heavy and sweet with cream, dark cherry, and anise. We're not quite sure how such a magnificent cigar can carry such an affordable price, especially considering the other high-end cigars Ramon Bueso has helped to create over the years. We doubt you're going to complain, though, so take advantage and stock up on a whole lot of Ramon Bueso Genesis The Project smokes. There's no reason not to.
