La Perla Habana Morado

La Perla Habana might not have the name recognition of some of the cigar game's big players or famous boutiques, but their Black Pearl Morado proves they have earned the right to play the same field. As one of the few small companies to survive the well-known Cigar Boom of the late 1990's, their focus remains on producing quality sticks regardless of their limited quantity. As La Perla Habana lacks the resources to run their own production facilities, all of their cigars are crafted by Toraño's skilled torcedors which ensures that every leaf of Nicaraguan filler and binder tobacco is properly cared for before being rolled beneath a leathery African Cameroon wrapper. While they are designated as La Perla Habana's Purple Label, you'll need to turn your attention away from the attractive young miss decorating each band to notice. Oily with just a few smell veins, the outer Cameroon is equally as handsome, carries a warm barnyard aroma, and acts as a solid framework for the lightly springy internal tobaccos. Earthy and rich once lit, filler and binder provide plenty of coffee and pepper while the wrapper layers some cinnamon spice into the crisp white clouds of smoke. With a strength that never reaches too far above medium, these are excellent sticks for morning, noon, and night. Priced like a bargain cigar, you'll understand after just your first Black Pearl Morado how La Perla Habana has been able to survive all of these years without gouging their customers or selling out by throwing as many stogies into the market as possible. Having earned a stellar 93 rating this is the superstar of their modest lineup, but you would be missing out if you didn't explore some of their other excellent offerings: Classic, Cobre, and Rojo.
