There are a few other cigar companies that still roll some of their sticks with a classic pigtailed cap, but because most of their front marks are rolled as such, Kristoff's skilled torcedors are arguably the undisputed masters of the style. Shade-grown wrappers are notoriously fragile, but the hay-scented Kristoff Connecticut is a golden-brown work of art that sets the mouth to watering even before unleashing the nutty, cocoa-dusted flavors revealed during the beginning puffs. Warm caramel sweetens the more pungent nutmeg and black coffee that appear during the first third, ripening toffee, marzipan, and espresso. The flavors presented to the palate around the halfway mark while carrying you through to the end on smooth clouds of bright white. Although a little more on the adventurous side than many of the milder cigars out there, the Kristoff Connecticut is still a pitch-perfect companion for all sorts of aficionados.
