Guardian of the Farm Night Watch

Guardian of the Farm Night Watch is the second cigar in the Guardian of the Farm lineup from AGANORSA Leaf and Casa Fernandez, and this time the famed blend features a maduro wrapper. Made in Nicaragua at Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. under the watch of head honcho Max Fernandez Pujals, Night Watch continues the Guardian of the Farm theme of commemorating not only the four hounds guarding the Fernandez family tobacco farms, but, in the words of Fernandez himself, "Every dog, whether it is one of ours or your own". As for the blend, this example sports a hearty mix of Corojo and Criollo filler and binder leaves from Jalapa and Esteli, along with a dark and very unique Jalapa Corojo Maduro wrapper leaf. The result is a much stronger blend than the original, made for those who loved the first stick but wanted just a little more "oomph." Lovingly packed in crisp white cabinet chests and wearing luxurious white and gold bands, Night Watch certainly appears to be quite the high-end cigar. The mottled dark brown wrapper leaf glistens with oil and it is readily apparent that the construction is impeccable. As for the smoking experience, a productive draw gives off rich, blue smoke, beginning with a blast of Nicaraguan pepper and soon relaxing into a stunning array of earthy tobacco, dried fruit, and coffee. Hints of chocolate and brown sugar linger in the background, all the while building up to a dry, clean finish. Night Watch resides on the heavy end of medium-full-bodied, combining strong flavor with balance and complexity in true AGANORSA Leaf fashion. While the cute pup on the band may suggest that the cigar in question is fun and friendly to everyone, Night Watch, like the original Guardian of the Farm release, is in fact an ultra-premium cigar meant for experienced connoisseurs. Just a notch or two shy of full-bodied, this blend boasts subtle complexities and a flavor story that can only be truly appreciated by a well-developed palate. Night Watch pairs well with dark beer, coffee, and tawny port, and makes for a great end to a hectic day. It should appeal quite nicely to fans of fuller-bodied dark cigars such as La Mission du L'Atelier or Roma Craft CroMagnon, but truly Nigth Watch is in a class of its own.
