Drawing upon hereditary blending skills honed over four generations, Ernesto took inspiration from his favorite time of day to meld sweet Nicaraguan longleaf filler with a succulent Ecuadorian binder and a velvety, twilight-hued Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper to create this 90-rated gem. Impressive from the moment the vitola is in hand, from the glistening maduro beneath double indigo and gold bands to the generously rolled tobaccos at its core, you'll begin to realize why the E.P. Carrillo Dusk was ranked the #18 cigar of 2017. Even more evidence can be found in the smooth cold draw, causing the palate to tingle with the tastes of cocoa, cedar, and dried hay. It all comes together once the foot is fully ablaze and the creamy flavors of white chocolate and almond butter combine with robust dark roast coffee beans, a wet stone-like earthiness, malted milk, and butterscotch to deliver a fully satisfying experience from beginning to end. Medium-bodied Cigar Smoking an E.P. Carrillo Dusk with your feet up and a full-bodied beverage in hand while the last rays of the sun fade to pink and red and purple on the horizon is a sublime experience, but don't be afraid to pair this medium-strength stogie with a morning espresso or late evening's digestif.
