It may seem like a relic from another era, but the 601 Habano Red Label cigar is still in production and seeking to recapture its former glory. Fortunately for everyone, those two men were practical realists, so instead of holding grudges they divvied up their holdings and wished each other well. The real test of character lies inside, of course, and here each vitola shines bright with a smooth draw and peppery taste when cold. Once lit, the first impression is of rich black coffee with a touch of sea salt. In any lesser smoke this duality may impart some bitterness, but there is a sweet backdrop, almost like milk chocolate, to keep things on the level. Rising to just shy of full-bodied for the finale, there's enough going on for everyone.
